The Spotted Wing Drosophila

We have developed successful species-selective lures and traps for monitoring as well as a novel bait-based control technique for the spotted wing Drosophila. As species-selective lures, growers can more easily screen for occurrence and population levels, compared to generic lures that are available on the market. The lure has also been successful in sustainably suppressing the species in grape, cherry and blueberry  We currently collaborate with stakeholders in Sweden, Hungary, Italy, Greece, and the USA.

The Spotted Wing Drosophila

Drosophila suzukii

The spotted wing drosophila is a species native to Asia that is spreading and becoming a harmful pest in fruit and berry production in America and Europe. It attacks soft skinned and stone fruits such as strawberries, raspberrries, blueberries, cherries etc..

Controlling the spotted wing drosophila can be challenging. One of the best ways to determine the presence is by using traps for monitoring.
